From Tiny Plugs to Harvest Season: A Lavender Owl Farm Update

When we last shared an update from The Lavender Owl Farm, we had just planted our very first 2,000 lavender plants. At the time, all we had were dreams, determination, and a field full of tiny lavender plugs that looked impossibly small against our 10-acre farm.

A lot has happened since then.

What began as rows of young plants has transformed into our first real lavender harvest season, and we couldn't be more excited to share the journey with you.

A Year of Learning and Growing

Starting a lavender farm has been one of the most rewarding and challenging adventures our family has ever undertaken. We spent countless hours preparing fields, installing irrigation, laying weed barrier, monitoring plant health, and learning everything we could about growing lavender successfully in Pennsylvania.

Like many first-time lavender farmers, we've experienced our share of surprises. There were weeds to battle, weather to monitor, and plenty of lessons learned along the way. But seeing those first vibrant purple blooms appear made every bit of hard work worthwhile.

Harvest Time Has Arrived

One of the highlights of this season has been harvesting our lavender by hand. Walking through the rows, gathering fragrant bundles, and watching the farm come alive with bees and pollinators has been something truly special.

Each bundle is carefully harvested to preserve the beauty and fragrance of the flowers. After harvest, the lavender is dried and processed right here on the farm.

There is something incredibly satisfying about holding a bundle of lavender and remembering that it all started from a tiny plant just a year ago.

Creating Products From Our Harvest

This season has also marked an exciting new chapter for The Lavender Owl Farm as we've begun transforming our harvest into handmade products.

We've been busy creating:

Culinary dried lavender buds

Lavender Epsom salt soaks

Lavender sleep sprays

Lavender essential oil products

Lavender mint lip balms

Sachets and gift items

Future lavender-inspired products currently in development

One of our favorite parts of farming is taking something we've grown ourselves and turning it into products that our customers can enjoy in their homes every day.

Growing More Than Lavender

While lavender remains at the heart of our farm, we've also continued growing flowers, caring for our animals, operating our family businesses, and finding ways to make our farm a place where family, community, and agriculture come together.

Every season brings new opportunities, and we're continually exploring ways to expand what we offer while staying true to our mission of creating high-quality, farm-made products.

Looking Ahead

As we look toward the future, we're excited about expanding our lavender fields, introducing new products, and sharing more of our farm journey with all of you.

We're incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported us, followed our progress, purchased our products, shared our posts, and encouraged us along the way.

What started as a dream and a field of tiny lavender plants has become something real, and we're only getting started.

Thank you for being part of our story.

With gratitude,

Ashley, James, and Kayden
